2008 Egyptian Event A Huge Success!
June 16th, 2008

What a week-long celebration the 2008 Egyptian Event was! The Paradise gang (below) spent time at our brand new “Old Western Town” in Barn #7 on the beautiful, green Kentucky Horse Park grounds. A complete list of results follows, but our horses brought home multiple 10 CHAMPIONSHIPS, 5 Reserve Championships, and 10 Top Ten ribbons! We’re so proud of the hard work head trainer Misty Kenworthy and her staff did in preparing these 15 lovely horses for the show, and in the success our clients had with their beautiful, top-quality Egyptian Arabians!

Final Update: Saturday Results
Today, two this week’s multi-champion horses captured two more–a Reserve Championship and a Championship!
Beth Witt again showed Bint Al Riyahh in the Amateur Division, this time in the Amateur Halter Mare Championships, and they won Reserve Champion! Owner Missy Head watched proudly from the stands as her friend and her favorite horse showed beautifully together.

El Helou (left) won the Championship in the Supreme Champion Gelding class for Ed, Beth, and Erin Witt, rounding out a fantastic week for this young gelding.
What a great way to round out our incredible show!!! Watch for more pictures soon!

Congratulations to Paradise trainer Gil Valdez and head trainer Misty Kenworthy on an amazing show! Their HARD work paid off!
Update #6: Friday, June 6, 4:50 pm

Another Championship ribbon today! Youngster Erin Witt, daughter of Ed and Beth Witt, showed our foundation mare Alia Shaniah in the Amateur Halter Mares, Junior to Handle class, to 1st place! Erin was trained by Paradise’s head trainer Misty Kenworthy (left, with Erin and her trophies!) Congratulations on a great show, Erin, and we’re looking forward to a great future in the showring!
This afternoon, Emirat Riyala (Mishaal HP x Alia Riyala) was Top 10 (6th place) in the Futurity Finals for Yearling Straight Egyptian Fillies born 1/1-4/15. Emirat is owned by Dr. Jay Jolley and competed extremely well in a very difficult and competitive class.
Update #5: Friday, June 6, 12:00 pm
This Egyptian Event just gets better and better!
On Friday morning, Alia Shaniah was Reserve Champion in her World Class Mares, 10 & Older class and showed beautifully.

In the following class, Paradise AGAIN made a sweep, this time in the World Class Stallions, 3-Year-Old class. Reserve Champion was Tzavu, and Champion was Thee Integrity (left, Thee Infidel x Thee Asriel Salam), owned and shown by Gary Kenworthy. What beautiful horses we’ve been blessed with! Both of these stallions are available for purchase as future herd sires, and the quality we’ve known they possess has been affirmed by three international judges today!
On Thursday morning, Bint Al Riyahh garnered ANOTHER championship, this time in the Extended Specialty Straight Egyptian Mares, 3-Year-Olds class! Shameless Shalimar earned another Top 10 ribbon in her Extended Specialty Straight Egyptian Mares, 3-Year-Old class.
Paradise and its breeding program made a clean sweep of the top 3 places in the Extended Specialty Straight Egyptian Stallions, 3-Year-Old class in a thrilling win! In 3rd place was Tzavu (Pimlico RCA x Mylea), owned by Lee and Christine Palm.
In the Reserve Champion spot was Scapa (left), who showed beautifully and earned 3 PERFECT 20 SCORES! In first place was The Legend (Thee Desperado x Alia Shaniah), bred by Gary and Wanda and now owned by Donald Brandenburg.
Later in the afternoon, three of Alia Riyala’s foals competed for her in the Produce of Dam class, and took Reserve Champion! What was especially impressive about the foals entered for her was that they were each by different stallions, and each looked different, but each carried characteristics of their beautiful dam. The foals were Alia Shaniah (Alia Riyala‘s first foal, x Shahir IASB), The Singleton (x Thee Desperado), and Emirat Riyala (x Mishaal HP), Ali’s yearling filly. Ali was only beaten by a mare whose representatives were both by the same stallion, so Paradise is very proud of the consistent quality Ali ALWAYS produces, regardless of sire.
Update #4: Thursday, June 5, 9:00 am
Another full day for our horses, trainers, and owners! Miller Pinson and his 2-year-old colt Amir Asil were Top 10 (4th on the cards) in the Adult Amateur Halter Colts 2 and Under in the morning, and Emirat Riyala (Mishaal HP x Alia Riyala) was named to the Top 10 of her Futurity Preliminary, Yearling Straight Egyptian Fillies 1/1-4/15 with owner Dr. Jay Jolley cheering in the stands!
Following the afternoon classes, Paradise threw its very first barn party, Western-themed and complete with bar-b-q, beautiful horses, and over 200 people! We had a great time at Barn 7 and our show string was admired by all.
Left: Trainer Gil Valdez and Paradise client Jeannette Longley make the most of the festive atmosphere during the barn party!
Update #3: Wednesday, June 4, 1:15 pm
In the morning classes, Diannah (left, Shahir IASB x Savannah CC) earned a World Class Mares, 6 to 9 year old Top 10 ribbon (3rd on the judges’ cards) for proud owner Jeannette Longley.
In the afternoon, owner Beth Witt showed her gelding El Helou to his second championship of the Event in the ATH Halter Geldings class! In the World Class 2 Year Old Colts, Amir Asil (Thee Asil x The Aurora) earned a Top 10 in a very competitive class for owners Dr. Richard and Amanda Pinson. Rakassah Anikah WEA (Alixir x Nellys Rose) won a Top 10 in her World Class 1 Year Old Fillies class.
This evening, owner Donna Gogal showed Shameless Shalimar to her first Top 10 ribbon in Amateur Halter Mares, Novice Handler!
Update #2: Tuesday, June 3, 9:20 am
Paradise finished its first day of Egyptian Event competition with its THIRD championship! The beautiful 3-year-old mare Bint Al Riyahh (Thee Asil x Emperial Sparkle) came in first unanimously in the Amateur Halter Mares 3 & Over class with Beth Witt doing a fantastic job of showing her! Bint Al Riyahh is very proudly owned by Missy and Scott Head and is straight off of an impressive showing at the 2008 Arabian Breeders World Cup in Las Vegas.
Thee Fyresteed, (left) who earlier in the day won Most Classic Head (see below), was bought by Jon and Mindy Peters of El Capitan Ranch in gorgeous Santa Barbara, California. He then was bought a second time by Naser Moushtaha of Cairo, Egypt! Congratulations to Naser on purchasing this highly sought-after young stallion!
First-time Egyptian Event attendee Donna Gogal already has much to celebrate as well. Donna showed her treasured mare Shameless Shalimar (Thee Desperado x Aliala) in the Most Classic Female Head competition on Monday in a gorgeous custom halter she’d had made especially for Shalimar, and the mare shone with beauty. Watch for Shalimar to show today and later in the week, too!
