Paradise Arabians Video Blog: Training Kira-Kira part 2

Part 2 of Kira-Kira’s lesson.

Second in this series, it picks up where yesterday’s left off.  I hope you enjoy it.  You’ll notice that the filly is NEVER actually struck with the whip.  We use it as an extension of our arm or to “apply pressure” in areas we can’t reach by any other means.  We want “no drama” and we want the horses to be happy in the time they spend in the company of humans.  We also want NEVER to betray their trust OR their intelligence.  We prefer to “ask” and “encourage”.  If they know what you want of them, they will happily oblige.  Certainly ours is not the only way and, for some, it may not be the “right” way, but at “Paradise” it is THE way!  Enjoy!

Paradise Arabians, Ltd., Video Blog: The “Crazy” Arabian, Part 2

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

Just Another “Crazy” Day in “Paradise”!

Only at Paradise is a scenario such as this likely to play out.  A Family, on their way to Florida for spring break, stops in for a tour of an Arabian horse breeding farm called “Paradise”.  Within 5 minutes of their arrival, Amal Hyati, a mare about to have her first foal ever, decided that was the time she should give birth.  She must have been waiting for an audience.  The family got to watch and, in fact, participate in the experience.  This footage illustrates the trust these horses have for humans.  If you’ve been following our blog posts, you’ll see that this is NOT a rare occurrence.  Please check them out at paradisearabians.com.

Foaling Continued: The Work After Maternal Bonding

This video picks up at the end of yesterday’s post and it illustrates what we do AFTER the birth and bonding between mom and baby.  A portion of the “imprinting” is illustrated here.  I’m sorry it is so long but I thought you might like to see what goes on in real time.  Of course, I stopped it before the process was finished but tomorrow we’ll visit some of what comes next.  The mare’s behavior is typical here at Paradise.  We think it’s partially in the breeding but also has a lot to do with how the horses are treated every day by our staff.  These are dedicated people who love these horses almost as much as the clients who own them!

Paradise Arabians Video Blog – Mare and Foal Early Morn

Mom and Baby in the Early Morn

Here’s a look at Bethany just walking into the stall with a mom and baby early in the morning.  Notice how the mare is perfectly fine with her “intruder” (that would be Bethany).  Also notice how eager the colt it to come and visit as soon as Bethany kneels down.  Because the horses here at Paradise are handled so much, and get so much positive human interaction, they are eager to visit with people.  Just give them a chance and they’ll be all over you!  Enjoy!

Another “Crazy” Day in Paradise with Wanda and Infidels Imaara!

We hope you enjoy this “unusual” footage.  Things get a little upside down toward the end but everything turns out OK.  No issues…Bethany if fine.  Her mood might be a little bit “off” for a day or two (can you say “PMS”) but nothing that will last…we hope!  ha.  We hope you enjoy the video.

Behind the Scenes Look at some of the other inhabitants of Paradise!

To appease Mrs. K, today’s blog is a video collage of just some of the many “critters” that call Paradise home!  Actually, it was in the planning from the get-go but don’t tell Ms. Wanda that. I hope you enjoy getting to see things that make Paradise special.
